The majority of the textile designers Studio Marian represent are small weavers, based all around the world, who source and work with local raw materials. Most of their textiles are entirely handwoven, with some made on hand-controlled looms.

We are proud to champion handcraft and to bring their unique and versatile creations to the UK. Want to see and touch our samples? Book an appointment, and we’ll bring them to you.

Coral Stephens

Coral Stephens founded her company in 1949 in Piggs Peak, Northern Swaziland. Renowned for her alternative and cutting-edge treatment of mohair -to create exquisite colour, texture, and pattern- these fabrics became world famous. Our fabric weaving today continues in the same classic, hand made way. Curtaining, carpets, upholstery, blankets, cushion covers, and throws form part of our collection. Mohair and raffia curtaining, and carpets in plain or mixed weaves are the basis of our work.

Fabrics and carpets may be customised according to colour, texture, and design. Collaboration with decorators on specific projects allows unique designs to be created for carpets and curtains and repeated in colour ways, for example: in blankets, upholstery, and lampshade fabric.

Kufri

KUFRI was conceived because the woven story needed to be preserved and presented in a way like never before. There was a need for beautiful, rustic, sustainably woven textiles that were as raw as the environment they were made in, but still conveyed arefined modernity.
KUFRI textiles are not meant to be perfect, but rather unique. They are raw, genuine, and inspiring, like the people that make them and the people that use them.

The KUFRI mission is to champion the craft of handloom weaving, to provide employment to women and aging weavers, and promote a conscious, beautiful life at home through our products.

Eugenia Pinna

Traditional craft and contemporary design thus merge in Eugenia Pinna creations, finding expression in deeply personal patterns, motifs and colours. While Eugenia’s thorough knowledge of local materials and traditional weaving skills are the technical bases of her artifacts, she brings to that age-old wisdom a distinctive personality, a highly modern methodology, a refined colour sense and an unceasing search for and study of traditional motifs. The rugs that leave her Nule “bottega” are not just decorative pieces, they are colour, form, character and personality.

Christian Grevstad

“Inspired to create a line of textiles that embodies the values and sensibilities developed through decades of his own design career, Christian has been sourcing the highest quality natural materials, designing weaves, and developing a distinctive colour palette for his collection. Exceptional European linen warps, sophisticated subtlety of colour, dynamic tactile surfaces, reversibility, and refined patterns are just a few of the details that set the Christian Grevstad Textiles collection apart.

In keeping with Christian’s affinity for the natural environment, production also endeavour to meet or exceed ecological standards in the manufacturing process.

All CG textiles are hand-woven in the USA / Pacific NW by a team of highly experienced weavers who have trained in Switzerland.

In addition to our line, we offer clients the ability to create completely custom patterns, textures, weights and specific colours.”
